The Dual Footswitch Controller provides a 1/4" stereo phone jack input for connection via an external y-adapter (included) to two footswitches or contact closures which can be used to trigger MIDI events. Triggered MIDI events are merged with incoming MIDI messages and sent to the MIDI output of the Dual Footswitch Controller.
Triggered event types are programmable and include:
- Note
- Control Change
- Pitch Bend
- Program Change
- Start/Stop
- System Exclusive
Other functions include:
- Program Change INC/DEC
- Rechannelize
- Transpose
- Tap Tempo
- Note-on Filter
MIDI Echo and Footswitch Toggle parameters are selectable on/off.
The Polarity of each footswitch can be determined automatically on power-up, or can be programmed to normally-open or normally-closed. It's also possible for the Dual Footswitch Controller to send out the state of its footswitches immediately on power-up rather than waiting for each to be depressed.
The Dual Footswitch Controller is programmed by sending it MIDI System Exclusive messages (see FAQs - Programming). For a complete description of the programming options, see the Dual Footswitch Controller Operating Instructions (.pdf file). Once programmed, the Dual Footswitch Controller's settings are retained even after power is removed. The Dual Footswitch Controller can be reprogrammed with new settings as often as needed.
The Dual Footswitch Controller Programming Tools software provides an easy way of programming the Dual Footswitch Controller. Settings are selected from pull-down menus, and System Exclusive programming messages are automatically generated from these selections. Once these System Exclusive messages have been generated they can be transmitted to the Dual Footswitch Controller through the computer's MIDI output port. There is also an option of generating a Standard MIDI File containing these settings. Since the Dual Footswitch Controller retains its settings even after it is powered down, it can be disconnected once it is programmed and inserted wherever it is needed in your MIDI setup. The Dual Footswitch Controller is MIDI-powered, and requires no batteries or power supply to operate with most MIDI products (see FAQs - Power and FAQs - LED for more information). A MIDI indicator LED lights up when the product is powered and flashes when MIDI data passes through it.
